1) Choose a Color Group using the buttons along the bottom. 2) Check a box in the column on the right side to select a background, font, or link. More than one item can be selected at a time. 3) Use either the Hue, Sat, Br sliders, or the R,G,B sliders to change the color of the item you selected. Watch the sample area for the color changes. After you get the color you want, uncheck the box in the right column. 4) Repeat steps 1 thru 3 for all Color Groups and items. 5) After you have all colors set like you want, click Save All Colors at bottom.
Note: When moving the sliders, if you do not see a change in the color sample area, try moving the Sat and Br slider all the way to the top, and then moving the Hue slider.
Tips
Follow these steps to come up with a great color scheme.
1) Select a Color Group with the buttons along the bottom. 2) Click the Check All button in the right column. 3) Move the sliders to set the main background color (this is actually setting colors on all items). 4) After you get the background color you want, click Uncheck All to de-select all items. 5) Then select items individually (starting with backgrounds), to change the colors of each item. This lets you see the interaction of different colors with the main background.
Controls
Color Group Buttons - Selected a color group first using one of the buttons.
Checkboxes - In the right column, use the checkboxes to select an item for color change. If you move the sliders when an item is selected (checked), it will change the item's color.
Sliders - Use the Hue, Sat, Br or RGB sliders to change the color of the selected item.
Hue - Use this slider to move thru the color spectrum.
Sat - Sat stands for saturation. This is the intensity of a color. You can move this slider to make it vivid, pale, or no color at all.
Br - Br stands for brightness. This slider controls how bright or dark the color is. To make an item pure black or white (or any shade of gray), turn the Sat slider all the way down and the move the Br slider.
RGB - The R (red), G (green), and B (blue) sliders can be used to derive any color. RGB gives more precise control than the Hue,Sat,Br sliders.
Set - This button (in the sliders box) is used for setting the color to a value that was typed (or pasted) into the Enter Hex Value box. This is helpful for setting colors in different groups to the same color (copying and pasting between groups and items), or copying a color code from a graphics program to the color picker. First select an item, and then type (or paste) the hex color code into the Enter Hex Value box. Then click the Set button. This will set the selected item to the color and update the sample area.
Browser Default - Use this button to clear a color and set it to the browser default. Select an item and click Browser Default. The item will change to the browser default color. This is also useful for starting with a clear color scheme. For example, select a color group, then click the Check All button in the right column. Then click Browser Default. This will clear all the colors at once. Repeat this for each Color Group to start your color design from scratch.
Undo Last - Use this button (in the sliders box) to undo the last color change you made. For example if you move a slider and want to go back to the color right before the slider was moved, click Undo Last.
Save All Colors - Click this button to save all your color changes and update your website. This will save changes for all color groups and items.
Auto Set Scrollbar Border Colors - Check this box when saving to have the color picker automatically set the 3dlight, Darkshadow, and Shadow border colors on the scrollbar.
Auto Set Link Rollover Colors - Check this box when saving to have the color picker automatically set the Visited Links, Active Links, Active Links Background, Links Rollover, and Links Rollover Background colors.
More Info
When selecting or de-selecting an item (checking or un-checking the box in the right column), The color sliders (and Hex Value box) will snap to the item's current color. The sliders will always be set to the color of the item that was last checked (or unchecked).
When changing the color for a selected item, it changes the colors on all pages of your site where ever this item appears (that is, after you click Save All Colors at bottom). For example, if you set the 'Content Area Background' color, all pages on your site will have this color in their content areas backgrounds. You do not have to set each page individually (with the exception of the Entrance Page color group. The Entrance Page colors are separate from the rest of the website pages.
